NOTE: IF YOU RECEIVED ASSISTANCE IN 2022 AND HAVE NO NEW HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS, YOU MAY COMPLETE THE SIMPLIFIED APPLICATION BELOW AND WILL NOT NEED TO RESUBMIT YOUR CITIZENSHIP/RESIDENCY DOCUMENTATION UNLESS THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE.

***In order to process your application for services, a COMPLETE application and ALL documentation is required.***
Applicants must be a resident of Matagorda or Wharton County to be eligible for services.
Programs require participants to be at a specific level of household income according to the Federal Income Guidelines. This amount varies by household size and can change. Please do not let this deter you from applying if assistance is needed.
Documents can be scanned using a desk scanner, or by taking clear pictures of the documents with a phone or tablet.
****REQUIRED DOCUMENTS****
1. COMPLETED Application - found at the bottom of this page
- Please ensure that all fields are filled out completely and accurately. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
2. Proof of income for the last 30 days for all members of the household 18+.
- If paid WEEKLY, 5 consecutive pay check stubs
- If paid BI-WEEKLY, EVERY 2 WEEKS, 3 consecutive pay check stubs
- If paid MONTHLY, 1 most recent pay check stub
3. If you receive the following MONTHLY payments, the current year Award Letter is required
(BANK STATEMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED)
- Social Security (SS) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
- Housing/Section 8 Assistance - Proof of utility reimbursement
- Retirement or Pension
- VA or VA Disability Benefits
- Insurance, Workman's Comp, Annuity Payments
- Child Support or Unemployment Benefits - Payment Detail Summary Sheet (date printed must reflect on or after date of signed application)
- TANF - Benefit letter must be within 30 days of application date. If any other income is listed on the award letter, you must submit all documented income separately as indicated above.
- If you or anyone in the household over the age of 18 are unemployed and not receiving any income, are self-employed, paid in cash or receiving family support, please ensure to fully complete the Declaration of Income Statement included in the application packet.
4. Current Electric/Gas/Propane/Water Bill
- You must submit a front and back copy of your electric, gas, propane and/or water bill showing meter number and service address. WE WILL NOT PAY OFF OF A DISCONNECT NOTICE.
5. Proof of citizenship or legal residency
DOCUMENTATION FOR EVERY HOUSEHOLD MEMBER IS REQUIRED
For Adults 18+ years of age
- Certified Birth Certificate, Valid Passport or Certificate of Naturalization or Permanent resident card
and
- Valid Photo ID
For Children under 18 years of age
- Certified Birth Certificate, Valid Passport or Certificate of Naturalization or Permanent resident card
and
- School Photo ID or School or Medical/Immunization Record showing name of child, address and parent's name.
Application will NOT be processed without all complete and proper documentation as listed above. Please allow up to 15 business days from the date of submission of completed application and all required documentation for processing.
